Day 2 of our cruise, we arrived at Penang around 2.30pm and by the time we reached Georgetown it was 3.30pm. We had a great lunch at Ee Beng Vegetarian Restaurant and started roaming around the streets.
The bright colours and street vibe was really contagious and we had a great time exploring the place.
We tried a local coconut sweet called DoDo and we bought them 3 for $1 ringgit. It had durian, pandan and original flavour. It was very sweet and super duper chewy but soft.
We passed by a massage center run by the blind and we really wanted to support them but did not go ahead because of time constraints. It was about $25 ringgit for 45 mins session. Next we passed by a toy shop and bought 2 kites for less than $8 ringgits! Weeh:)
We were amazed by this street graffiti featuring the ant eater. What a beautiful message!
We also made a stop at Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendol. There was a long queue and it was the best dessert to have in this hot weather. The trick is to mix the ingredients into a muddy state and just drink it down. It was super good and we shared a bowl for less than $2 ringgit. A lovely mix of rich coconut milk, red beans and some green jelly. A must try we say!
Located Off Penang Road, on Lebuh Keng Kwee (beside Joo Hooi coffee shop)
There are two stalls, and if you’re wondering which stall is more famous. Just look for the stall with the longer queue.
