Sweet and sour fish or pork is the most popular dish to order from any Zi char stalls or restaurants and grandma taught me how to make this classic dish with a few key ingredients.
1 tomato, sliced into 6 parts
1 packet of mock fish bean curd, sliced into 4 parts
1 cube of pineapple, sliced into small cubes
1 japanese cucumber, sliced in small cubes and removed middle seed portion
3 tablespoons of chilli sauce
3 tablespoons of ketchup sauce (its up to you to add more or less of the chilli and ketchup sauces)
6-8 tablespoons of canola oil for frying
1 tablespoon of salt
Prepare all your ingredients and set aside. Start by frying the fish slices first. Once they turn crispy brown remove from wok and leave to cool.
Pour oil in a side bowl and add in pineapple and cucumber slices. Next pour ketchup and chilli sauce into the vegetable mix.
Add on sliced tomatoes and a small cup of water for some gravy. Pour all the fried fish slices into the mix and stir them well. Continue frying for 3-5 more minutes and serve right away.
A glowing golden plate of yummy goodness!
