Buttered Frog Legs- Yi Xin Vegetarian Stall at Clementi Ave 4 Revisited

Hubby Ro was trying to clear some work assignments today so we headed to Yi Xin Vegetarian Food Stall at Clementi Ave 4 hoping to taste the famous tofu dome but sadly it was sold out. We ended up ordering the following 3 dishes.

First to arrive was sweet and sour fish bean curd slices $12. It had the right balance of spice and we were so greedy we ordered medium size but thankfully we were able to finish it.

Next we also had sotong slices with black bean bitter gourd $6. The bitter gourds were quite hard and the overall black bean flavour was lacking. The sotong slices looked like the real stuff but tasted rubbery and was quite tasteless.

Finally the buttered frog legs $8 aka oyster mushrooms arrived. I noticed many vegetarian stalls promoting this buttered frog legs dish as their stall specialty. This was our first time trying a sweet creamy mix of fried oyster mushrooms. It tasted really good and it reminded me of honey corn flakes with a slightly salty after taste. The oyster mushrooms were fried to perfection and had the right amount of buttery drizzle.

Despite the huge crowds and orders, the lady boss still maintained her smiles and the food came pretty fast.
