Singapore Restaurant Week 2013- Original Sin at Chip Bee Gardens

The yearly Singapore Restaurant Week offering set lunches $25++ and set dinners $35++ which happens twice a year is back. For the first time, we only have one restaurant choice to go to. I wished they could actually create a Singapore Vegetarian Week where top chefs or restaurants could whip up beautiful vegetarian dishes. Anyway we made our way to Original Sin for lunch earlier today.

When the restaurant week menu came, we asked if we could substitute certain dishes to vegan friendly items and they said yes with no hesitation. For appetizers, instead of having Bocconicini, tomato and basil salad with pesto suace and balsamic dressing they gave us Pommodoro, homemade herb bread with a kalamata olive tapenade with tomato marinated with garlic, basil and olive oil instead. It came shortly and wow we were shocked by how big the portions were. The olive spread with tomato salsa was so refreshingly and complimented each other so well with the crusty bread. After we’ve finished them, we were itching to get our very own kalamata olive spread too.

Next for our mains, I had falafel wrap with spinach, beetroot, carrot, tomato and cucumber. The texture was quite soft and not as crunchy as I expected and we could hardly taste the chickpeas. Definitely one of the healthiest falafel in the market but we still prefer fried falafel with more dressing. On the side salad, I loved the roasted  grilled capsicum. They were so sweet and yummy.

Hubby Ro had Spaghetti caponata sauce, capsicum, zucchini, capers and olives. Again the portion was huge and the tomato sauce was top notch quality, You could taste the wholesomeness of the tomatoes and the pasta was al dente and went so well with the olives and zucchini.

For dessert, instead of chocolate lava cake with ice cream they gave us apple crumble with coconut sherbet. OMG! It was the best apple crumble we both had ever tasted. It was so fresh and it came straight from the oven with the caramelized apples melting into the cookie crumbles and topped with the smoothest and lightest coconut ice cream. It’s so good we did not even talk and just went Oh so so good.

Although we have been to Original Sin many years back but we had no recollection of the food. This meal costed us $30 per pax and we say it’s worth every penny and we want to be back to try more.
