Bah Kut Teh La Mian- Tian Yuan Healthy Vegetarian Food Paradise at Fortune Centre

Back at Fortune Centre again and this time I headed straight to Tian Yuan Healthy Vegetarian Food Paradise hidden in a corner on level 2 . To get to this cafe, you need to turn right after you get up the escalator and turn left again until you see this sign.

This hidden cafe is no secret as there were so many people waiting to get seats and sharing seats to grab a quick lunch. We visited this cafe a week ago (and got the bah kut teh instant soup sachets) before they were closing and at the entrance of the cafe, there was no menu or pictures of their food. We spoke to the owner and he told us they did not used to have any menu and only served what was fresh and available in the market! How cool is that.

But based on countless feedbacks, they decided to have a range of set meals with some daily specials. I have translated what’s on the menu here.

They serve these items daily:

Set rice set with assorted vegetables

Taiwan La Main (Soup or Dry)

Mee Hoon Kuay

Vermicelli Soup

Bee Hoon Soup

Pig Trotter’s Soup

Dessert of the day

Soup of the day

Daily specials:

Monday- Thunder Tea Rice Lei Cha and Lor Mee

Tuesday- Sliced fish bee hoon soup

Wednesday- Laksa

Thursday- Tomato Noodle Soup (This is one item I am not so sure if I translated correctly)

Friday- Bah Kut Teh Soup

Saturday- Pumpkin Rice

Today I decided to order Bah Kut Teh Soup with La Mian $5 and WOW I was impressed. The portion was just right, the noodles were so good. It tasted like handmade Shanghainese noodles with that smoothness and elasticity. The ingredients consisted of mushroom muttons, enoki mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, corn and lettuce. I was savouring every drop and bite of it. What I found most amazing was how tender and yummy the mushroom muttons tasted. They are the best monkey head mushroom look-a-like I’ve ever tasted. The soup base could have been better if it was more herbal as it was too mild for my liking. I’m definitely going to be back as the prices here are one of the cheapest and the quality is top notch.

Do note that you have to share seats with other customers in this cafe as seatings are limited. The cafe sells so many different types of vegetarian food, drinks, mock meats, almond powder and even their yummy La mian. It was like eating in my favourite super mart.
