This evening, I bought Tofutti Cuties Mint Chocolate chip sandwiches $9.65 at Cold Storage. After the Tofuky Pepperoni pizza the other day, we had low expectation on store bought vegan ice cream offerings or any frozen vegan offerings sold.
The size of each ice cream sandwich fits my palm nicely and looks really adorable. It reminded us of those $1 ice cream wafer sold by old uncles in the streets of Orchard Road. After I posted this on instagram, many bloggers from abroad asked if I have tried Tofutti vegan cheese. If any one of you know where to find Tofutti cheese, do give us a shout out or let us know if it’s worth trying them?
Here’s a list of ingredients: water, sugar, corn syrup solids, contains one or more of the following oils: (Corn, soy, coconut, and palm), soy protein, tofu, cocoa butter, vanilla, crunch (unbleached wheat flour, cocoa sugar), soy lecithin, guar seed gum, carrageenan, carob bean gum, salt.
Wafer ingredients: unbleached wheat flour, sugar, caramel color, soybean oil, yellow corn flour, cocoa processed with alkali, modified corn starch, salt, baking soda, vegetable mono and diglycerides, soy lecithin.
The size of the ice cream was perfect and contains 130 calories per serving. If you are a mint lover like me, you will love this ice cream which is sweet (Hubby Ro thought it was too sweet) and had a nice minty after taste with a fair bit of chocolate chips with each mouthful. On a random note, it had a similar after taste as when you are done brushing your teeth. Pretty gross analogy but quite similar:P If you do not like mint, you will not enjoy this as much as the mint flavour was quite strong.
What we did not like most was the wafer layer, it was too thin and we would prefer if it was just like the crispy ones sold at ice cream carts around Singapore. This was soft and tasted more like a cookie/brownie dough which lacked in texture. Sadly, this did not blew our minds away and we would rather head to Brownice for fresh, quality vegan ice creams in Singapore.
