Earlier for lunch yesterday, we were craving something oriental with noodles so the first place we thought of was Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao. Sadly the entire menu was filled with meat based items and we had to specially request for them to emit the meat in the noodles we were having.
Hubby Ro ordered a Dan Dan La Mian $8.50 and it came in a generous portion. It smelt like peanut soup but sadly the noodles did not absorb the essence of the soup base and it was quite tasteless and was quite spicy. I tried some and felt so bloated from the oil and this dish was a real letdown as we were expecting coarse creamy peanut gravy instead of the noodles swimming in a pool of chilli oil.
Next, the only vegetables dumplings in the menu $4.50 for 3 pieces arrived. At first bite, we thought the skin was a little thick but the vegetable fillings were packed to the brim and overflowing. I loved the fillings very much and I cannot wait to try making my own.
The final dish to arrive was hot and spicy la mian $9.50 and in our opinion this was the best dish. The portion was really huge and it can definitely be shared between two ladies. The noodles went really well with the gravy and it was not too spicy. The pool of ingredients like mushrooms, enoki mushrooms and bamboo shoots were great. This dish really opened up our appetite:)
