Buns of joy at Chef Icon Cafe at Kampong Bahru Road

A few days back, I headed to Chef Icon on a Saturday afternoon to grab some buns for lunch! I was thrilled to see their selection of vegetarian friendly breads and was disappointed that there were no seats available to dine in. The teas and coffees always smells so good when you are in the cafe. The first bun I got was rustic wholemeal rye with walnuts, figs and cranberry $1.90 each. The texture of the bun was quite chewy and the bun was loaded with ingredients. I had a fun time picking out all the ingredients and wished it was more crumbly than chewy.

Next, I got banana chocolate bread $2.90 for hubby Ro and he loved it. It tasted really creamy and rich and he wished it came with more fillings.

The other unique item I bought was ham bun $2.90. It was made of tofu and the colour of the “ham” looks really authentic. After biting into it, although it does not taste like ham at all but has a really creamy smooth texture. We would definitely get this bun again!

The last bun was red bean $2.90 and my mum was the one who ate it. She said it was fragrant in smell and was not too sweet. We cannot wait to visit Chef Icon again soon! Please note that the buns contained butter and they are not 100% vegan.
