Home Cooking: Tofutti Vegan Cheese Ravioli with basil olive oil and tomato sauce


The one item we were dying to try was Tofutti vegan ravioli $14.50 for 12 jumbo pieces from Supernature and we waited for the weekend to make them. The instructions were really simple. I boiled a pot of water and added a generous amount of salt in them (About 1 tablespoon). Once the water started boiling, I added the ravioli one by one, stirring them as they popped in to prevent it from sticking to each other. Once all the ravioli started floating to the top, I waited 8-10 minutes for it to be cooked. I sieved them up and plated it. Next I added 3 tablespoons of tomato pasta marinara sauce, and sprinkled parsley leaves and basil olive oil over them. And voila, the dish was done in less than 15 minutes!



Hubby Ro found the skin of pasta slightly thick but he loved the texture and creaminess of the cheese in the ravioli. It was mild and tasted quite similar to mozzarella cheese. The fillings were really full and some cheese oozed out while I was sieving them.I found it too cheesy actually and he ended up eating the entire dish! For a romantic vegan night out, this packet for two is way more affordable as compared to dining out at a restaurant which usually do not even serve vegan cheese ravioli!
