This week has been such a fruitful one as we tried a few upcoming vegetarian/vegan food haunts in Singapore! One that was on our list was Beyond Veggie by Secret Recipe. Originating from Malaysia, this chain of vegetarian restaurant have been around for a while and their latest venture to Singapore is super near our home! Located in an intimate dining village at greenwood avenue, it was crowded at 8pm on Sunday and we were glad to have made reservations. If you want to check out their menu, they have an online version here (do note it is in malaysia riggit as they have yet to start a Singapore facebook page). We ordered the following dishes for a party of five.
Assam curd cutlet with eggplants and long beans
Revitalizing herbal mushrooms (ONE OF THE BEST we have ever tasted!) The flavours of the broth was really soothing and all the vegetables gel so well as a dish together. Thumbs up!
Beyond Veggie Fried Rice (One of their signature dish and each rice dish comes with a mushroom satay stick)
Sambal tempeh and petai
Mushroom Satay, 4 sticks per order
Most dishes ranged from $7.90-$12.90 and the portions we got were hearty and generous. We spent $95 odd for five of us which included a unique fruit tea which was their speciality. Each dish was so flavourful and it was hard to pick one we do not fancy. Do note that most items on the menu are vegetarian and the mushrooms satay and assam curd contained eggs in their mix. The staffs on hand were helpful and asked if we had any dietary concerns after repeating our order. There is also a good selection of 4-5 eggless cakes specially made for the restaurant. Hopefully, they will bring in more vegan desserts and also have an option to make the mushroom satay vegan as well! Unlike the typical mock meat, they used monkey head mushrooms which is one of our favourite. We cannot wait to return for a family gathering soon to try more dishes.
