New Vegan Pizzas Offerings at Brownice

IMG_4049

We thought it was about time we share about the cool new happenings at Brownice! They have gone through quite a revamp! From new pizza box, to pizza delivery to new pizza offerings and special weekend savoury meals(we have yet to try any so far). We love the new ice cream cakes too:) Having tried some of the pizzas they offer, we have our favourites and the first is spinach hedgehog $16.80 made of spinach, mushroom, tomatoes, vegan cheese, coconut cream to almonds. We found this flavour most savory and each pizza waiting time is about 10-15 minutes depending on the crowd.

Otah Otah $15.80 was our least favourite. Somehow, the flavours were not too our liking and had a strange after-taste.

Tofu Crumble $15.80 is our no.1 favourite! The tofu mixture with tomatoes, vegan cheese, coconut cream and paprika is delicious. We love how each crust is consistent and thin. The only thing we wished was that the portions are bigger, as we always end up eating dinner first before heading down for pizza as an after dinner snack and some ice cream to be 90% full. If we are there in a group of four, we usually order about 4 pizzas, 2 waffles and 2 brownies:)

If you are a traditionalist and prefer a simple tomato pizza base, you have to try the classic $13.80 with tomatoes, vegan cheese, olives and paprika. You can taste the vegan cheese flavour more but at times we felt that the base is too dry. We cannot wait for more new happenings and food offerings at Brownice! We love the new change:)

One of the best vegan mint chocolate chip ice cream- SOYATO

A couple of weeks back, we received a lovely package from Verleen the owner of SOYATO. She gave us the mint chocolate chip pint and since then we have bought 2 more tubs. The other flavour we got was chocolate chip which Hubby loved but I found that the flavour had too much soy aftertaste. The mint on the other hand was refreshing, crunchy with the generous amount of chocolate chip and had no hint of any soy. I was so impressed as there are hardly any vegan mint chocolate chips offering around the world that taste so good. The usual ones that taste awesome are only chocolate or coconut. Hopefully Soyato will churn out new flavours such as coconut, durian, strawberry or even a more local flavour like chendol for example.

We are so glad to hear that Soyato is a soy-based, locally made ice cream brand that recently launched in NTUC. Previously at Bugis, Alan and Verleen (the founders) took the feedback that it was difficult to bring Soyato home and remodelled their business to make Soyato more accessible to the mass consumers. We found the new revamp of the flavours and business direction for Soyato really inspiring! With every 100ml scoop it only contains 100kcal, which you can burn off by watching a 2-hour movie or shopping for 30 minutes. Other than that, having Soyato also means you’re taking in 59% less calories and 3X less fat than other ice cream brands. As all of Soyato’s ingredients are plant-based, Soyato is also suitable for vegans, vegetarians and lactose-intolerant consumers. Soyato Ice Cream is also cholesterol and trans-fat free. With so much benefits, we hope Soyato can be reach out to wider audiences and maybe sell overseas too!

If you are concerned with what the main ingredients of a Soyato ice cream is made of, check out this ingredient List:

Best Waffles Ever- Brownice at Sin Ming Centre

image_1

After dinner at Hubby Ro’s workplace, we decided to satisfy our sweet cravings and head to Brownice again! This time round, we ordered waffles $3.50 (no egg and no dairy too) with pumpkin coconut ice cream $3.80. My goodness it was the best waffles we have both tasted. Somehow it did not have the usual oily aftertaste and it was spongy, fluffy and crispy too. It was the best combination of flavours with the dark chocolate syrup and maple syrup dressing. Try to eat this quickly as it softens towards the end of the meal.

On each table, there was an ice cream promotion for 2 for a free flow ice cream selection with one waffle, brownie and more freebies! But we thought it might be an overkill though.

We also ordered chocolate brownie $4 with banana oat ice cream $3.80 (for one scoop). Again the combination was great but the brownie was really rich and dense. It tasted like the real deal but after a few mouthfuls, it got too heavy and was too sweet for our liking. The banana oat ice cream on the other hand was delicious and had a mild oat taste.

I’m so glad they are far from our place if not we might end up having supper there every other night. We will definitely be back to have the waffles again! Hopefully we can get to try more flavours from their daily selection too.
