Zi, the owner of Auum nail spa invited me over to her cozy shop a couple of weeks back and boy was I impressed with the range of products and service I got. Not forgetting the cozy vintage big armchairs which reminded me of the shops along portobello market in London.

I took awhile to soak in the shop ambience and thought the washing sinks were super retro and clever!

This vegan-friendly beauty spot abides by strict sanitary practices and offers only paraben-free and acetone-free services, so they are safe for pregnant women, children, cancer and diabetic patients alike. I was impressed by how I got my own disposable towel and every customer gets to take home a travel friendly nail care set when one leaves the shop.

I was curious why they called themselves the “HONEST NAIL SPA” and according to Zi, she shared that..

Unlike many nail salons they will educate their customers on all the products that they use but more importantly, they will let you, the customer make your own informed decisions about what you want to do with your nails – so there’s no hard-selling of nail packages to you or anything along that line. Best of all, everything at the nail spa is vegan friendly, plus they have treatments and products catered for vegans, pregnant mums, and even kids too!

AUUM also upholds a strict hygiene standards where they only use disposable towels, nail files, foot files, and toe separators. All the other tools are disinfected and cured under UV light. One of the main goals of AUUM,  fueled out of passion – is to change the nail industry’s standards by offering the best services and products that the shop can find and educate customers on the harmful effects of normal nail lacquers and other options they can choose! I LOVE this part of the service:)

I was really excited to try the Auum’s sigature service where they provide soak x shape x trim cuticle x callus removal x treatment x scrub x massage x polish! It cost $38 for signature manicure and $58 for signature pedicure. The process was fuss free and was meticulously carried out with strict sanitary measures and great smile from Jasmine the staff who served me. It such a pampering experience I fell asleep half way through.

I went for a bright coral pedicure and decided to try the one and only non-toxic vegan bio sculpture gel manicure! It was just like any gel nail service but had a full range of colours to choose from. I was spoilt for choice and decided to go for a glittery number. If you are not a fan of nail polish in general, they also provide nail wrap services which is so easy to put on and instantly you get gorgeous nails on the go. I tried a half-moon red nail with white tip nail wrap and voila, within a couple of minutes and just a simple top coat, my nails looked just as good as any painted nails. I got many compliments when I was in NYC over the past week and everyone could not believe they were nail wraps! The nail wrap service is an additional top up of $40 on top of the basic nail care services they provide.
